Sass+Co worked with Luna Playa Taqueria, a restaurant that merges traditional Mexican cuisine with a modern dining experience, to design a flagship store and develop the companies branding
The project centered on creating a new concept restaurant that highlights family recipes from the Southern Pacific region of Mexico, bringing the rich cultural heritage to life in a fresh and contemporary way.
What we were most proud of
We are particularly proud of the transformation achieved by incorporating island-inspired design elements without sacrificing structural integrity. By opening up two main walls and using color, texture, and tropical plants, we captured the essence of the owners' heritage. A key design feature was the custom 12-foot-long table, made from everyday outdoor pavers, which became the focal point, along with bench planters that further emphasized the outdoor-indoor fusion.
Sass+Co provided a full-service concept for both interior and exterior design, as well as complete branding. We offered white-glove service for all FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment), overseeing fabrication installs on-site and off-site, and managing the build team as needed.
WHAT THE PROJECT REQUIRED:
A full gut renovation of the existing space was required to reflect the authentic Mexican Island roots of the owners. The challenge was to transform the interior while maintaining the architectural framework, all while crafting a space that invites customers in and seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor elements.
